These Boots Weren't Made For Hiking

Sometimes Most times, I learn valuable lessons the hard way...

Rule of thumb is: you should always bring a pair of walking/hiking/running shoes if you don't want to damage one of your prized possessions for the sake of squeezing in some majestic waves into the shot. Of course, this must be done with at least one free hand to simultaneously clutch onto said prized shoes, carry your bag, and lastly, hold onto your hat in its desperate attempt to fly away with the seagulls. After looking down the steep cliff, I thought, "Hmm...I'm pretty damn sure that my boots are gonna be dirty after this..but challenge accepted! My trusty boots should be fine!"

Another THE Rule of Thumb to Remember: Always trust your gut instincts.

This unfortunate "Rule of Thumb" lesson was acquired as I stumbled down a steep path lined with sharp rocks, loose fine dirt, and a thing in life called "the struggle".
But despite this struggle, we managed to capture some great shots and I still had a blast doing it. It was definitely a challenge, but we pulled through and these photos have to be one of my favorite sets on the blog so far!

For a casual outfit like this, I love using the flannel-tied-around-the-waist trick that adds a different feel to the entire outfit. This flannel is so versatile and I love the classic navy and red colors of it. I paired it simply with a graphic tee from Panthers and Hippies (seen as a snapback here and here) and distressed jean shorts that I cut from old capri jeans. I wanted to keep my outfit consistent with my black shirt so I kept my accessories black as well. This hat and these boots add a western flair that complements the flannel. For a little glam touch, I added this statement necklace from Aldo (also seen here) that's perfect for sooooooo many of my outfits. Luis said I should stop wearing it on the blog, but I'm going to ignore him. How can you stay away from it?! It adds that necessary feminine aspect that's true to my usual style.

Oh! As for these boots, here's what happened to them:

Suede booties
Layered on dirt
Splashed seawater from the waves
A VERY unhappy Eunice

....the story continues....

Home
Clean toothbrush
Delicate, tedious, meticulous cleaning
Somewhat-restored suede booties & a content blogger

But if we're keeping count,

Life: 12301290128 wins
Eunice: 0.5 win
I ain't even mad though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Do what makes you EUNIQUE!
