Spring Summer '14 Transi-Must Lust List

The weather in LA has been bipolar at best. One week it's blazing hot reaching past 95 degrees, then the week right after it's averaging down to 70 degrees. Cali, make up your mind! Is it going to be hot? Is it going to stay chilly? Hmm....this raises good questions like:

 1. "What spring/summer styles should I add to my ever-growing closet arsenal?"
1a. "What types of stuff should I buy that I can wear the crap out of?"
2. "What the eff do I wear in case the weather turns out to be something other than what I expected?"
3. "I hate layering, but I hate feeling uncomfortably cold also, what do I do?"
4. "How do I dress trendy without being too trendy?"
5. "I have the serious case of #BrokeWithExpensiveTaste syndrome. What can I buy without my wallet crying on me?"

Do not fret my friends. I have several solutions for you: learning to effectively layer on layers without feeling bulky, buying transitional spring/summer pieces that translate well across the seasons, and SALE items. 'Nuff said. Let's just say, you might love and hate me at the end of this post ;)
Don't act like you don't love it!

I've created a fun interactive style guide for you guys that's kinda like a big run-on sentence. By that, I mean that it's just a big flowy image of all the things I want this season and roughly how I would style these spring pieces all in one! Browse and click through the products below to find out where you can score these pieces. (Hover over the picture and you'll see a yellow circle pop up with the info & link. If it doesn't show on your browser, please use a different browser like Chrome.)

Oh, and did I mention..

I know, I know, you love and hate me at the moment because I just found a bunch of on sale items for you, so now you have to spend money on these gorgeous pieces, but before you do, I need you to read why you should or shouldn't start splurging on all the things you want.

White Japanese Brush Print Dress // Minuet Petite

I found this dress as I was scrolling through the sale items on my Lyst dashboard and I fell in love with the abstract brushstroke print. I'm a sucker for anything brushstroke or ink splatter related especially in monochrome black and white. Add that with a sophisticated sheath dress body and I'm sold. It's too bad that they don't have my size AND is on sale. Oohh the FOMO is too real! But if they did have my size, I would definitely buy it because the sheath dress body is timeless and black and white never goes out of style.

White Lovisa Pointedtoe Pump Peroxide // Alexander Wang

This. Shoe. I. MUST HAVE IT!! I love the crispness of the white peroxide color and the pebbled leather texture that adds a subtle edginess to it. I would totally wear the crap out of it if I weren't so clumsy with storing my heels without getting it dirty. But this beautiful thing is top shelf (worthy). The white adds a freshness to the ensemble and is a great transitional piece that can be worn all year long in LA. This would be my idea of a snowshoe and totally worth splurging on.

On the top of buying things that are too trendy, here's what I have to say:

Haha, not really, but you kinda get what I mean, right? Trends come and go, but style remains, which means that if you have the desire and creativity to isolate pieces and adapt them into different outfits, even the most trendy items can become transeasonal. This Dion Lee top is trendy now, but who knows if it'll continue being trendy 5 years from now, but that's a fashion risk you have to take every once in a while. Also, fashion tends to not repeat itself, but tends to rhyme instead, meaning that trendy pieces now will be adapted in the future in a different way, but it's bound to come back. Plus, that top, with that skirt, with that coat, with all these accessories...ALL ON SALE. Is it time to say "YOLO" yet?
